Youth Work Experience

The young people in our community mean a great deal to us here at Beyond Limits. They are the future of our community and we want to give them every opportunity to move forward in life. We also know that school, academia and exams are not the only measure of a persons talents or success.  That is why we want to offer the young people in our community the opportunity to come and work alongside our staff and gain skills and experience in the workplace that they cannot get from a classroom. Our staff and volunteers will help them to adjust to a workplace environment, learn to follow the day to day routines, rules and regulations that come along with that, and gain lots of important skills, experiences and certificates that will build up their CV's, giving them and excellent grounding for applying for jobs.

Grounds work and Maintenance

If you like the idea of working with tools, being outdoors, and learning the skills it takes to fix and maintain grounds and buildings then this section of the work experience is for you. You will work very closely with our grounds man, Kev, who will teach you everything you need to know about safely using power tools, how to repair and maintain the equipment and buildings and various other jobs that keep the charity running smoothly.

Horticulture

Our gardener Mally works with those who want to learn all about horticulture and everything gardening. With over 50 years of experience in landscape gardening there is nothing Mally doesn't know about looking after our lovely plant life, and he loves passing that knowledge on to the younger generation.

Event Management

As you know here at Beyond Limits we run lots of different events, from garden parties to afternoon teas. We have lots of youth volunteers who help at these events, but as part of the work experience we will offer the chance to learn the skills needed to organise and plan these events, as well as work at them. So much goes into the organisation of events on this scale and having the experience and skills to plan such things would be a big plus for anyones CV.

Certificates and qualifications

As well as on site learning and hands on experience we want to give our young people the chance to gain certificates and qualifications in other areas that can be carried through and transferred into various types of employment.  Things such as First Aid, Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, to name but a few.
